There is a running joke in my family that my motto is “be productive or die.” I have lived that way for nearly three decades, driven by a deep sense of dedication to serve others and make a meaningful impact wherever I could. While I still strive to serve others, my pace has become more meaningful and aligned.
In 2022, life took me on a different path than what I had planned for myself, but the Universe spoke, and I listened. I experienced a life-altering event that significantly affected my physical capabilities. The outcome was severe enough that I was medically discharged, bringing my 26-year military career to an unexpected end. I spent more than 18 months in rehabilitation, and during that time, life as I knew it shifted completely. That forced pause created space to reevaluate my priorities, my values, and the way I wanted to move forward.
Throughout my life, I have honored my intuition, and in this moment of profound change, I knew I had to embrace a different perspective. I had to let go of what I thought my path should look like and allow the Universe to bring the people and opportunities meant to support my next chapter. The transition from my career was not easy and there were difficult realities to face that my path would flow in a new direction, but I had to trust the process.
During this period, I began studying Chinese Metaphysics and became deeply attuned to ancient wisdom, gaining a profound understanding of my personal energy matrix and destiny. I began to see that deep self-awareness and energetic alignment had quietly guided many decisions throughout my life and career, long before I had words for the experience. I have long used healing arts such as yoga and meditation to return to my center, and with greater conscious awareness, I became more integrated. I also came to understand how misalignment creates unnecessary strain and stress.
My calling is to share my experience and skills with others to help them on their journey to discovering their inner voice and hidden potentials.
Palo means “stick” or “tree” in Spanish. I chose it to honor the yin and yang wood energies in my personal energy matrix. Yang wood embodies qualities like building momentum, opening new paths, creating innovative concepts, and the power of manifestation. It is energy that is forward-moving, solar-powered like a sprouting seed, and often the “first” to take action. Yang wood does not wait for others; it generates plans and strategies quickly to set momentum in motion.
Yin wood brings balance through adaptability, diplomacy, and communication. It offers the patience to navigate complexity, the flexibility to adjust course when needed, and the insight to cultivate alignment with others. Together, yin and yang wood create a dynamic energy that blends action with awareness, momentum with adaptability, and innovation with thoughtful strategy.
Volta comes from Latin and means “to turn.” On a metaphorical level, I experience Volta as the energy of pivoting, redirecting, and transforming movement. I have developed and honed these skills over my career. The word also evokes a sense of change and energy, like a “volt” that brings life to stagnation.
Together, Palo Volta embodies the qualities at my core: forward motion, transformation, and the ability to open new paths with innovation.
